Choosing the Place of Sacrifice

Feb 5th from "My Utmost For His Highest":
Are you willing to sacrifice yourself for the work of another believer- to pour out your life sacrificially for the ministry and faith of others? Or do you say 'I am not willing to be poured out right now, and I don't want God to tell me how to serve Him. I want to choose the place of my own sacrifice. Are you ready to be less than a drop in the bucket- to be so totally insignificant that no one even remembers you? Are you willing to give and be poured out until you are used up and exhausted- not seeking to be ministered to, but to minister?

Can you believe that was in my devotional book this morning?! It was just what I needed to hear.

Kristi and Jason,
You have been continually in my heart these day. I can believe that this was your devotions for today. I have thought about the things the Lord is going to call you to sacrafice if He calls you there. I have thought about the ways of thinking that will have to be surrendered to the Mind of Christ, I have thought about the way of life that will drastically change. I have also thought of parents who are seeking to teach there children how to be missionaries and how to love what the Lord loves. I have thought about a family that wants to surrender to the Lord. Often times what He seemingly calls us to sacrafice is the very answer to the desires of our heart. I thought it meant certain things to raise Godly children and the Lord has faithfully shown me that His ways for my children are soooo different than mine. He is so good to see those desires and answer them in ways we never dreamed possible, often calling us to "sacrafice" in order for them to be fulfilled. I am really proud of both of you, I pray for an open heart to hear the voice of God. Regardless of everything (and I mean everything) else, when He calls you I know you will obey. You will be experiencing and thinking through a lot. I am praying that you will hear his voice all along the way. He will go behind you saying go to the left and to the right. Keep listening. I am so proud of you guys.

This is a lot of what I have been thinking of lately. I am reading through a devotional series based on the life of John. Would I drop everything (comfort in life, house, friends, family) and "follow Him"?

As we live here in Boise and I see God working and ministing and meeting the needs of others through our family... I often wonder why here? Why this place? It seems such a strange place for my husband and I to be with all of our experience and love of travel and foreign culture... The key is, as the author so profoundly puts it,... "Or do you say 'I am not willing to be poured out right now, and I don't want God to tell me how to serve Him. I want to choose the place of my own sacrifice"

I asked my husband this very question last night... and he assured me this place, Boise, is God's chosen place in this season to pour himself out to those around us.

What a blessing to feel God move is it not???

Keep praying and rest in God's place for you... no matter where it is...

I love you and am blessed through your words of devotion today.
