Zambia Update

This has really been a roller coaster ride for me. Most of the time I am scared to death! I have a new peace now that I've memorized Psalm 121. When I remember that the LORD will go with me and protect me wherever I go I can do whatever He asks me. We were hesitant to go to missionary orientation May 4-8 because of jeopardizing Jason's work, but his boss is fine with him taking that week off..phew! Jason has always been confident that we should go but he's had to put up with my reservations. Fortunately I haven't completely discouraged him from following God's leading.

We talked with the Action Zambia director on Easter and he shared some new vision with us. The director of Koininia Campgrounds (50 years experience) came to check out Ciyanjano and give advice for Action's campground plans. Here is a picture of what we hope to accomplish in the next 5 years on the property. We would eventually live in the bungalow on the right side of the property. Everything will be built in stages, utilizing what is already there as much as possible. The campgrounds will have thatched roof, open sided, cement floor "cabins" with 4 sets of bunk beds. (You can double click on this image to see it better.)Under the thatched roof will be a canvas tent that the bunks will be inside for privacy and mosquito protection. The water pumps will be run by children playing on a merry-go-round that works the pump. (brilliant!) We will live next to one of the Zambian caretakers (Boniface Phiri) so we can learn the language etc until the property becomes usable and our bungalow is built inside it's own fenced area. We are excited about the plan and that Koininia is giving us their expertise.
First things first, we have to go to orientation and go through all the interviews, marriage counselor, trainings etc. Only God knows when we'll get there!

Wow, Kristi. This is HUGE!!!! May the Lord continue to guide you and give you His peace and direction and abundant provision for all He is calling you to do. I'm so proud of you.

(P.S. My old blog is now all closed down, so I'm only at our new site now!)
